Eight years! It's been 8 years people, since I moved this over to typepad. How the blog-o-sphere has changed! I've watched people loose their jobs over things they posted online, people get well deserved book deals, more people get well deserved book deals, some people getting well deserved book AND movie deals.
I just simmer here in the background.
I first found blogging in 2001. It was still new to the internet. It was the pre-google days. I was still on dial up, for crying out loud. Most people didn't even know what blogging meant. Oooh, it was an exciting time on the interweb. I was stuck in a crappy job, floundering in a loveless marriage. I started my own private blog (I blush to think of the crap I wrote on that). After procrastinating for 8 years, I finally decided to end my marriage. I got divorced. I found chat rooms! I met my current husband via a chat room (remember those pre-facebook days?). I sold my house, had 4 or 5 garage sales and sold almost everything I owned, (my shoes - all those beautiful beautiful shoes), packed up what was left and moved to Australia. I knew no one here except my husband. It was scary, but exciting. I left behind my kids, my mother, my dogs. I felt like an explorer.
So, eight years later, I am still in Australia. I've gone through jobless times, crappy jobs, jobs that started out ok and turned out to be crappy. I went through menopause (boy, wasn't that fun). I became invisible once I went through menopause - you have to have gone through it to understand what I mean. My husband put up with my bad moods due to the menopause, the even worse moods when I couldn't find a job, and the evil moods when I was stuck in a crappy job.
I've made friends. I started a new hobby. We bought a house. We got a dog, and then we got another dog. We both work too hard. I am still blessed with one of the best husbands ever. I haven't had a book deal yet, but not too many people want to read about a post menopausal woman who doesn't have a huge demographic. But hey, you never know when someone will say "sign her up".
