It was very windy here today. So windy, in fact, that two peewee fledglings ended up in our yard. Of course, I didn't see them when I came home, but the Mr did. What do you do with birds that have fallen out of the nest? They were almost ready to fly, probably need another week in the nest. Short of taking a weeks leave & spending it hand feeding the little buggers, I came up with the brilliant idea of putting them up on the roof.
Mr H put on a pair of gloves, plopped his hat on (protection from diving birds) and tossed one of the birds on the roof. It took three tries, but it finally landed up there. Then he went looking for the other chick, but that one had managed to walk to the back gate and crawl under it, where it was met by Scarlett. Of course, Scarlett couldn't decide what to do with the bird, so Mr H managed to rescue that one as well. We will see what the morning brings, the odds aren't good for their survival but at least (maybe) they have a chance.
