what makes people tick?
Last night I had planned to leave work at 5, but didn't manage to get out of the office until 5:40. arrived at the station at 6:30.
A woman was on the speaker phone talking to someone about the two dogs she was holding. Apparently the dogs had been running around in the car park and she was afraid that they were going to get run over. Long story short, the guy at the other end of the speaker phone couldn't help her.
Two other women stopped to help, one fed the dogs the chicken she had been planning on feeding her husband for dinner. I provided water (purchased with 3 of my remaining 6 dollars - 3 DOLLARS for a bottle of water!). The other woman got on her phone and rang home trying to find phone numbers of a shelter. I used my phone to search the internet for phone numbers. Finally got in touch with the RSPCA emergency number, the woman on the other end said to ring the police. Rang the police, they said they would send a ranger. The two women helping left, I stayed with the first woman and waited.
Finally rang the police back, got another dispatcher who said "Look, you already rang here, I've booked the job, but the rangers said they went out there this morning & they didn't see any dogs so they are not coming back".
So the first woman took both the little dogs home and will drop them off at a shelter today. I can not believe that these two little dogs were running around a train station ALL DAY and NO ONE stopped for them.
Hopefully they will be adopted soon, because I don't think Mr H's heart can take another stray.
